Risk management

The ATO aims to ensure the identification and appropriate management of ATO risks, while streamlining processes where possible. During the year, we commenced the review of our risk framework to ensure it is contemporary and supports responsible risk management. The revised risk framework will better align with strategic objectives, inform planning and support a positive risk culture in the ATO.

We continuously monitor and review our risk information, with assurance of our framework provided through the Audit and Risk Committee. We strive for maturity in our risk management and compliance with the nine elements of the Commonwealth risk management policy.

We continue to participate in the annual Comcover Risk Management Benchmarking Survey and, in 2016, achieved an overall risk maturity level of ‘Advanced’.
