Total air travel in 2015–16 increased by 14% against our baseline year of 2011–12, and by almost 13 million kilometres when compared to 2014–15. This can be attributed to large-scale operations, including our Reinventing the ATO program, enterprise bargaining consultation and information sessions, and the ATO's contribution to multinational tax avoidance, including attendance at OECD forums.

We are continuing to invest in enhanced video technology to improve the way our staff connect and collaborate, which should see reductions in travel over time. Telepresence is high-definition video conferencing that offers participants an experience similar to being in the same room together.
